Decorating home for Christmas

Long time ago I watched "Love Actually" and I really love this movie but there is something on this movie that make me always remember it. It is the intro of the movie which repeated by the singer because he remember the old version of this song, ya it was old song but make it into new song with modification of some lyric. The song is like this:
I feel it in my fingers
I feel it in my toes
Christmas is all around me
And so the feeling grows
It's written in the wind
It's everywhere I go
So if you really love Christmas
Come on and let is snow

Air purifying house plants

In choosing plant and flower, I prefer alive plant to artificial plant but for some reason I like artificial too. I like artificial plant when I want to decorate my home and effortless on maintenance but if come to benefit of alive plant that good to purifying the air so I prefer alive plant. Well alive plant also bring a good energy to your home make your home feel cozy.
Air filter plants are great in purifying air so they are good for someone with asthma, allergies, or just likes the idea. I also got information that some plants also reduce radiation from some electronic devices. Here are some air purifying plants that you can choose to adding beauty and as air filter for your home:

1. Bamboo Palm:
Bamboo palm is a plant name applied to certain genera and species of palm trees. They are unrelated to true bamboos.

  • Chamaedorea
  • Dypsis, specifically Dypsis lutescens, native to Madagascar
  • Raphia, specifically Raphia vinifera, native to Nigeria

According to NASA, it removes formaldehyde and is also said to act as a natural humidifier.

2. Snake Plant (Sansevieria trifasciata or some people called it as mother in law tongue):
Sansevieria trifasciata is a species of Sansevieria, native to tropical West Africa from Nigeria east to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is an evergreen herbaceous perennial plant forming dense stands, spreading by way of its creeping rhizome, which is sometimes above ground, sometimes underground. Its stiff leaves grow vertically from a basal rosette. Mature leaves are dark green with light gray-green cross-banding and usually range between 70–90 cm (27–36 in) long and 5–6 cm (2–2.5 in) wide.
It is commonly called the snake plant (not to be confused with the very similarly named "Snakeplant", Nassauvia serpens), because of the shape of its leaves, or mother-in-law's tongue because of their sharpness. In China, it is known as hǔwěilán (虎尾兰, Tiger's Tail Orchid). In Japan, it is called 'Tiger's Tail,(とらのお)'. In Brazil, it is commonly known as espada-de-são-jorge (sword-of-saint-george). Due to its blade-like shape, it is commonly associated with Ogun, the orisha of war (usually associated with Saint George), and is used in rituals to remove the evil eye. A yellow-tipped variant is known as espada-de-santa-barbara (sword-of-saint-barbara), and is associated with Iansan/Oya, the female orisha of storms (usually associated with the sword-bearing image of Saint Barbara). In Africa, the plant is used as a protective charm against evil or bewitchment

Found by NASA to absorb nitrogen oxides and formaldehyde.

3. Areca Palm:
Areca is a genus of about 50 species of palms in the family Arecaceae, found in humid tropical forests from China and India, across the Malay Archipelago, to the Solomon Islands. The generic name Areca is derived from a name used locally on the Malabar Coast of India.
They said that Areca is one of the best air purifying plants for general air cleanliness.

4. Spider Plant:
Chlorophytum comosum, often called the spider plant, is a flowering perennial herb. It is native to tropical and southern Africa, but has become naturalized in other parts of the world, including western Australia and San Francisco, California. Variegated forms in particular are used as houseplants.
Great indoor plant for removing carbon monoxide and other toxins or impurities. Spider plants are one of three plants NASA deems best at removing formaldehyde from the air.

5. Peace Lily: Peace lilies could be called the “clean-all.” They’re often placed in bathrooms or laundry rooms because they’re known for removing mold spores. Also known to remove formaldehyde and trichloroethylene.

6. Gerbera Daisy: Not only do these gorgeous flowers remove benzene from the air, they’re known to improve sleep by absorbing carbon dioxide and giving off more oxygen over night.

Recycled object to decorate your wall

Want to be unique in decorating your home's wall maybe can use a recycled object that you can find in your home. To try something new, why not? Decorate the walls of the house sometimes can be a pretty tough challenge. The difficulty is not only due to the many charges you have to spend, but the ideas sometimes is not suited to your home. Therefore, before you rush to pay the services of others to decorate your walls, the first step that needs to be done is to check various reference designs in magazines and the internet. After that, consider the budget.
Still didn't have idea about how to decorate your wall, maybe this post can be some inspiration for you. Not only beautiful, you have to spend the cost is relatively less but ya... need a little effort too.

Snowflakes from old magazine
When I was kid, I like to cutting paper into many object with beautiful cutting but I didn't have idea what to do next after the cutting finish then some month ago or maybe a years ago I found a post which talk how to make snowflakes. It is like boom! I got this idea then I decorate my wall with paper snowflakes. Here for the example.
Credit to micelemademe.com my inspiration to make paper snowflake
It is my snowflakes on my rent room when I was study in univ,  I also have paper snowflake in my room but didn't capture it. Sorry for the low quality I taken it with my laptop came in the night time when I was learn how to makeup - special for my graduation day.
How to make it?
Micele is a creative blogger, she make DIY stuff to decorate her home and she also make tutorial about it. Share in here.

Picture of how to make paper snowflakes are from micelemademe.com, I didn't have high quality came yet (it is one of my wish list hope I can have it soon ^_^) and Micele already create the tutorial so better share her artwork. Tips from me:

  1. Use colorful paper like your old magazine with pictures, origami paper with motif, or colorful brochures. Using colorful paper will make contrast to your wall so the shape of your paper snowflakes will clear.
  2. To fold the paper use your creativity, what I shared in here just 1 of example.
  3. Use glowing paper as I said magazine paper, will give good result and glowing in light.

Artwork "from the toilet"

Start with the easy stuff you find everyday, but often forgotten. One item in this category is a roll of bathroom tissue rollers carton. You just need to cut-cut cardboard tissue rolls with the same thickness. Next, paint roller with your favorite colors. Once dry, arrange on a large canvas and be creative with various forms of decoration of these cardboard rolls. In addition, you can also avoid the use of canvas and use the nails to "hang" the flower of the cardboard roll earlier.

From the kitchen table to the wall

Are you a fan of cupcake? Bowl gorgeous cakes you can also make hanging wall decoration. In fact, the work of this one tend to be simpler. You just need to develop and accumulate some cupcake bowls over thick mica sheets or plastic before it hung on the wall.

Other object from table to wall is plates.

Many people decorate their wall with plates and I think it is interesting to try it in our home too. If some people decorate their wall with their favorite plates that maybe they collect from all places that they were visited, well you also can try this idea but to be creative is need little effort. How if you buy some plaint plates  then you paint. Ehm.. then it will be your handmade work. Be creative with the way you paint.
Idea to paint your plain plates:
1. Normal paint with paint brush then pain your idea
2. Pain with your fingers
3. Pain with fork.
4. Tied cloth then dipped it into pain, make it colorful.
5. Colorful potato stamps. etc

Fabric and jeans into wall
Ok I only giving example for fabric. If you have some scratch of cloth then why not try to use it to decorate your wall, like the picture above. If you want different idea with kind of cloth then you can look into your drawer now, if you found old jeans and you don't want to wear it again then you may cuts it into some creative shapes like flower then mix and match it with some scratch of fabric that you have. Once again be creative.

World map

Ehm.. If you have problem with Geography or you want your kid easy to memories world map then you can try this idea, hanging world map into your wall. Not just hanging atlas or map, because you also need to set up some canvas. After preparing the canvas, the large world map into sections according to the shape and size of the canvas. Tape the world map to the canvas, and hang the canvases.

Did you have idea to decorate your wall now? Hope this post help you to find your idea and always be creative.
